Most of these hexagon quilts were made in the 1920s, and this one probably was, too. Cut and pieced by hand by a Colorado quilter, this top was probably intended to be queen-sized. I have no idea how many days (months?) of work it took to create it.
The unfinished top came to our church quilting group in a donation bag. I thought it was too cute to give away. It became another one of my practice projects–one that sat in my quilting studio for months until I could work on it.
Over the winter and spring of 2019, I added a back, quilted, and bound this vintage piece into a usable lap blanket.
It’s beautiful! You did it justice!
